Ch 10 in Innovator's Prescription mentions how health systems will begin training their own workforce because incumbent institutions cannot keep up. Christensen makes a convincing argument about having variable training with certain results (eg Toyota) over fixed training with uncertain result (which is the current edu system we have).
Can't agree more. In Israel Med school is 6 years (combined with undergrad) and there was a general feeling we can reduce at least a year while also making much more out of it if a variable training was in place. Makes much more sense IMO instead of learning and practicing things you will never meet or do again in your career.
